Vitaly Shakin began his career as an investigator in the Organized Criminal Investigation Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Irkutsk Region, where he gained indepth experience in investigating criminal cases at a time when Russian legislation was just being formed, and the practice of applying norms was just getting started.
In 1999 Vitaly was admitted to the Irkutsk Regional Bar Association and worked as a teacher at the Department of Criminal Law at the Law Institute of Irkutsk State University, thus combining scientific and practical activities.
In 2000, he completed the course at the Interregional Center "Judicial and Legal Reform" in Moscow for leading conciliatory meetings (trained in mediation skills).
Since 2003 he was admitted to the Moscow Regional Bar Association and continued lecturing at the Moscow State Regional Pedagogical Institute and in 2004 - at the Russian Law Academy of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
In 2004 Vitaly successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Russian Legal Academy of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
In 2015, simultaneously with his advocacy, he was a judge of the Federal Arbitration and Arbitration Court of the International Civil Procedure Association.
Currently he is a senior partner of the JurCity Law Firm. During his professional career Vitaly represented the interests of citizens and organizations in various types of cases in courts of all levels. He provided support to the legal entities on various areas of law in a wide range of industries including construction, real estate, IT and software, creation of spacecraft, production and supply of goods, car sales, consulting services, advertising, travel, psychological services, freight and logistics, etc. However, his main interest remains in effectively advising principals in cases related to economic crimes as it is associated with a scrupulous work and careful analysis of the details of the situation.
