Stacey’s litigation experience is multifaceted and extensive. With more than a decade of trial experience, she focuses on federal and state white-collar and other criminal defense, employment law, civil rights, and the collegiate disciplinary process, including Title IX investigations.

Stacey’s employment practice covers federal and state courts, as well as matters in the Maine Human Rights Commission. She passionately represents individuals who have suffered discriminatory discipline and termination measures, retaliation, harassment, medical leave violations, failures to accommodate, and other employment actions. In addition, Stacey provides counsel on human resource matters to corporations large and small, including drafting employee handbooks, hiring determinations, separation and termination, compensation and employee benefits, and wage and hour issues.

As a former federal prosecutor in the District of Maine, Stacey brings the valuable and unique perspective of understanding the legal process from the opposing side. Prior to being a federal prosecutor, Stacey was a defense attorney in Vermont. She is strongly suited to represent people faced with federal or state criminal investigations or charges.

Stacey also handles Title IX investigations and educational disciplinary matters. Stacey knows that when a university or school opens a Title IX investigation, the investigation and process can seem like a foregone conclusion with devastating consequences. She is here to guide you through each step of the process. Stacey will help you build and present a convincing and comprehensive, well-documented narrative to help you overcome the accusation. She also provides support to the complainants through the process.

Underscoring everything Stacey does is a true appreciation that her clients’ whole lives are affected by the work she does. Stacey is a director of the firm and a member of the management committee.

Stacey serves on the Board of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Board of Governors of the Maine State Bar Association. She is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee for the District of Maine. Stacey has served as a member of the Maine Employment Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Edward Gignoux Inn of Court, and the Federal, Maine, American, and Cumberland County Bar Associations. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of New England. She lives near Portland with her husband, three children, dog, and chickens.
