Mr. Broadhurst, a partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department, was one of the Firm’s first associates, joining it in 1978 after graduating from Stanford Law School with honors. He became a partner in 1985.
He began his practice counseling clients on all types of business transactions, including acquisitions, venture capital financings, public offerings and intellectual property matters. Over time, his practice has focused increasingly on counseling clients in the financial services industry, principally investment advisory firms.
Mr. Broadhurst helped a number of highly successful money managers form hedge funds in the 1980s. These efforts, together with the services they provided to more traditional investment advisory firms, enabled them to establish a national reputation as a leading firm in this industry. Partners Carolyn Reiser, Neil Koren, Jim Frolik and Christina Hamilton who joined the firm in 1994, 1999, 2000 and 2002 respectively, have also focused their practices in this area, enabling this practice group to continue to expand and thrive.
Mr. Broadhurst counsels his investment advisory clients on a wide variety of issues, including the formation and operation of investment advisory firms, investment limited partnerships, offshore funds and other investment vehicles, employee compensation and regulatory compliance. He continues to be listed in the International Who’s Who of Private Funds Lawyers which features only the foremost practitioners, and in The Best Lawyers in America since 2006.
