James Walker focuses his practice on government enforcement actions, internal investigations, and representation of law firms and attorneys in professional liability litigation and advice. He represents audit committees, directors, senior executives, and other professionals in government and internal investigations of potential criminal, regulatory, and/or professional misconduct, as well as in civil litigation and regulatory proceedings.
James’ extensive experience includes representing and advising companies on employment law issues such as the investigation of whistleblower, discrimination, and harassment complaints, employee separations and hires, and restrictive covenants.
Active in city and state bar associations, James has served on multiple New York City Bar Association committees, including professional discipline, professional and judicial ethics, professional responsibility, and securities regulation. He has been a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics since 1996 and is the current chair of the New York County Lawyers’ Association Committee on Professional Ethics.
James is a frequent lecturer on legal ethics and has written articles on attorney-client privilege, professional ethics, internal investigations, and issues arising under securities laws. He also has partnered with AltaClaro to provide custom e-learning solutions for in-house counsel across various industries.
