Catherine W. Anglin focuses her civil litigation practice on complex business litigation matters, including toxic tort and products liability asbestos litigation, environmental law, and construction law. In asbestos litigation, she represents both product manufacturers and premises defendants.  In this legal work, she is buttressed by the 13-year career she enjoyed as an environmental consultant prior to practicing law.

Catherine received her undergraduate degree in Earth & Atmospheric Sciences from Georgia Tech in 1996.  As an environmental consultant she planned, conducted and reported results from soil and groundwater contamination investigations. This work required compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (“RCRA”), the Clean Water Act (“CWA”), the Clean Air Act (“CAA”) and CERCLA (aka “the Superfund Act”) regulations while working with the client, and both state and EPA regulators, to evaluate efficiently contamination and apply innovative remediation techniques to bring projects toward closure.  In the year before law school, Catherine oversaw a $20 Million levee rebuilding project south of New Orleans, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina as a Quality Control Manager on one of the levee sites.  She received her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law with honors in 2009, trading in her hard hat and steel-toed boots for suits and heels to begin practicing law.  She now utilizes her familiarity with regulations, scientific analyses, and investigations to advise clients on brownfields matters and to defend clients in toxic tort and products liability actions.

A graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law (“TBALL”) program, Catherine is active in the local and state bar. She served as Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association (“TBA”) Environmental Law Section and as President of the East Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women (“ETLAW”). She taught Continuing Legal Education classes on Environmental Law topics for the TBA, KBA, and the National Business Institute.  Catherine was selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Environmental Law and has been selected as a Knoxville Top Lawyer in the same field for several years. She has also been recognized as a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers for several years.

Catherine lives in Knoxville with her husband, Brian, and daughter, Caroline. They enjoy hiking in the nearby Smoky Mountains. Their favorite recent hike was re-hiking an old favorite, the Chimney Tops trail, to observe its post-fire recovery.
