James C. Hardin III is a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law in South and North Carolina with over 35 years of experience in estate planning, probate, trusts, business succession, charitable giving and foundations and endowments. He has offices in Rock Hill, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. He Chaired the South Carolina Bar Committee which studied the Uniform Trust Code, and provided expert assistance to the General Assembly prior to its passage in 2005. At the same time, he also served on a counterpart committee in North Carolina. Mr. Hardin is co-author with S. Alan Medlin of the book “The South Carolina Trust Code,” which was published in May, 2006. Mr. Hardin also served as a bar liaison to the South Carolina General Assembly in 1986 during its consideration of the South Carolina Probate Code. He has written and spoken extensively in his fields of expertise, is a certified mediator and an active community volunteer. Mr. Hardin is the Immediate Past Chair of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has during his career served on three occasions as the Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the South Carolina Bar
Mr. Hardin is a Fellow, and past State Chair of, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He has been listed in “Best Lawyers in America” since 1987, the North Carolina Legal Elite, and North and South Carolina Superlawyers. In 2006 he was voted by his peers as one of the Top 100 North Carolina Super Lawyers in all fields.
