The firm counsels its clients on how to avoid problems, provides representation in negotiations, and handles all phases of litigation.
What We Practice
Budd Larner's practice areas include: corporate and business transactions; commercial litigation; first party coverage insurance litigation; product liability and toxic tort litigation; insurance and reinsurance matters; entertainment law; computer law; internet law; domestic relations matters; tax and estate planning; real estate transactions; creditors' rights and bankruptcy matters; and appellate matters. The firm has in-house investigative capabilities and maintains an extensive network of consultants, expert witnesses and arbitrators throughout the country and overseas.
What Our Goal Is
The firm's goal is to maximize efficiency by ensuring that each matter is handled by appropriate professionals with the requisite levels of expertise. Staffing within the firm ordinarily depends upon the needs of the case. As a general rule, we attempt to staff matters with the minimum number of attorneys necessary to ensure a high quality product. In most cases, a single shareholder has responsibility for a matter. Our shareholders can be relied upon to maintain a close working knowledge of the case and to involve themselves extensively in those aspects of a matter where the experience of a senior attorney is most helpful to the client. Junior attorneys and paralegals are employed where appropriate to minimize costs. Through efficient staffing and regular client communication, the firm provides quality representation at reasonable cost.
Budd Larner enjoys a fine reputation, both for the representation it provides and for the character of its attorneys. One of the firm's founders, Samuel Larner, went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a trial and appellate judge. Other former members of the firm also moved on to the bench, including C. Thomas Schettino, who became an Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, and Christine Miniman who is a New Jersey Superior Court judge. Former shareholder Shira Scheindlin now sits on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. William D’Annunzio, a retired judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, is a valued resource in the firm’s appellate and alternate dispute resolution practice areas. The firm's attorneys regularly present lectures and articles in national and international forums, serve on bar and ethics committees, and participate actively in the communities in which they live.
As Budd Larner proceeds through its eighth decade of practice, we remain committed to providing our clients with aggressive, effective representation.
