For more than 35 years, the distinguished injury law firm Salvi & Maher LLP has been dedicated to defending the rights of their clients throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. The firm has recovered more than $300 million for clients in various areas of injury law, including medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and trucking litigation. Their exceptional results have improved clients’ lives and influenced policy to create safer communities nationwide.

“Our firm consists of true leaders in legal and local communities who are deeply rooted in their work,” said co-founder and managing partner Al Salvi. “Clients come to us—or are referred to us—during some of the most challenging times in their lives, and we make sure they understand how important they are.”

Extensive Injury Trial Experience

Salvi & Maher LLP is best known for securing seven-figure settlements for auto accident and wrongful death victims in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. These cases encompass truck accidents, rear-end collisions, cell phone use and texting-while-driving, hazardous roadways, distracted driving, uninsured and underinsured accidents, aggressive driving and other dangers that can result in life-altering injuries.

The firm’s lawyers have gained unique insights into the long-term effects of vehicular impacts on injured victims, thanks to their decades of experience. Senior Partner Kathy Salvi, for example, often contributes her extensive legal and medical expertise to the non-physical aspects of such cases.

“Some injuries are not as apparent as broken bones, and we thoroughly investigate how a plaintiff’s condition could evolve over time,” she explained. “In one vehicular accident case, we demonstrated that the impact had transformed a client’s asymptomatic arthritis into symptomatic arthritis. This type of ailment requires significant treatment, and although we were initially offered just $20,000, our newfound insight helped secure nearly $385,000.”

It is this ability to identify less-obvious injury details, discovered through client relationships, that has positioned the firm as a true leader in the field. This keen insight has also contributed to success in litigating other highly specialized injury claims, such as poisoning, dog attacks, defective products and jet ski accidents.

Achievements and Acknowledgments

Salvi & Maher’s attorneys have consistently received recognition for their achievements and contributions to the legal community.

In 2015, partner Al Salvi was named a “Nation’s Top Attorney” by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, placing him in the top 1% of attorneys in the U.S. He also received the 2016 Client Distinction Award and 2018 Elite Lawyer Award from Martindale.

The firm’s stature within the legal community has grown in the past year. Partners Al Salvi and Michael E. Maher were named to the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs. Additionally, attorneys Kelli Ford and Joseph Salvi were named to the 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America list in the field of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs.

“We are always grateful for the recognition of our commitment to client service and legal expertise,” Al Salvi said. “The fact that many of our accolades have been earned through peer review processes is particularly meaningful, and we are honored that our colleagues hold us in such high regard.”

Salvi & Maher has also stepped in to help other firms during challenging times. When a longtime peer expedited his retirement, he sent all his pending injury cases to Salvi & Maher. Undeterred, the firm accepted these cases—primarily motor vehicle injuries—and successfully resolved them all. Moreover, the firm’s extensive network of medical professionals, business leaders and former clients refer plaintiffs, further demonstrating the firm’s unparalleled client service and advocacy.
