Jane C. Bergner, a former tax trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice, has practiced law in the areas of taxation, trusts and estates, and litigation for more than 40 years. She has extensive experience in tax controversies, tax audits, tax collection, and tax litigation before the Internal Revenue Service, the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue, and the courts. She has planned and administered highnet- worth estates and trusts. Mrs. Bergner is an elected fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar. She is a former chair of the District of Columbia Bar’s Taxation Section, as well as that section’s Tax Audits and Litigation Committee. She is the author of several nationally recognized treatises on tax controversies, litigation, and procedure. Mrs. Bergner is included in the directory of The Best Lawyers in America 2012-2016 for trusts & estates and tax law, as well as for litigation and controversy in both of those fields.
