The resolution of family law issues impacts a person’s life, frequently affecting long term financial well-being and parental rights. It is important, therefore, to attain the best possible outcome. Robin B. Taub, a principal and founding member of Paradiso, Taub, Sinay, Owel, and Kostecka, P.C., has built her legal reputation upon this principle. She focuses her practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia on negotiation, mediation and collaboration. She believes these alternative forms of dispute resolution are the most effective and healthiest means to achieve a successful divorce. Such processes can lead to a negotiated interest based solution that considers individual priorities, preserves wealth, and spares the emotional toll exacted by protracted litigation.

Leveraging her negotiation skills and her ability to diffuse emotional disputes, Ms. Taub is able to find creative solutions for even the most complex or financially sophisticated cases. She employs a well-informed and financially sophisticated approach that is direct and straightforward in order to establish negotiating positions that are both defensible and reasonable. Attention to detail, willingness to engage, and efficiency are some of the characteristics that best define Ms. Taub’s handling of a family law matter. She also knows when to compromise and not overreach, so that the resolution of family disputes can build a framework for successfully moving forward. Ms. Taub has secured optimum results for her clients in a wide variety of matrimonial matters, including complex divorces, prenuptial agreements, international divorces, and business ownership disputes. She has also represented high profile athletes wishing to keep matters confidential.

Ms. Taub’s ability to settle cases in a positive manner has enabled her to develop one of the most respected family law practices in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. As a result, she has frequently been named amongst the area’s top family law attorneys by Washingtonian Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and the Washington Post Magazine. Furthermore, she has also received the highest possible peer review ratings for her legal abilities and ethical standards by Martindale Hubbell. In addition, she has been recognized by Chambers & Partners as a top international/matrimonial High Net Worth Lawyer.

Ms. Taub is a certified Mediator and Arbitrator and is trained in Collaborative Law. In addition to being one of the founding members of the Maryland Collaborative Divorce Association, Ms. Taub is a Board Member of the D.C. Academy of Collaborative Professionals, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee for the Maryland Collaborative Practice Council, and a media spokesperson for the Tri-State Collaborative Task Force. In her capacity as Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee, she co-authored the Ethics Guidelines for Collaborative Practice--District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, and presented to various Collaborative Associations throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. She also testified before the Maryland Legislature in connection with that State’s proposed adoption of the Uniform Collaborative Law Act. The Circuit Court of Montgomery County and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia frequently appoint Ms. Taub as an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mediator for domestic relations cases and as a Best Interest Attorney.

Ms. Taub handles all types of family law matters, including divorce, child support, custody, property settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, and domestic partnership issues. She is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer on the topics of Ethics and Collaborative Practice at the George Washington University School of Law, the University of Maryland School of Law, and University of Virginia Law School, as well as for the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Forum, Maryland State and Montgomery County Bar Associations, the Virginia and DC Collaborative Law Associations and the Financial Planning Association Spring Symposium for the DC Metropolitan area. In addition to her presentations on issues related to collaborative law and domestic relations, Ms. Taub also mentors young women lawyers and has spoken at Duke University’s Career Conference for graduating seniors about prospective legal careers and "Women in the Law."
