Since 2006, Bryan Gottfredson has dedicated his legal career to real estate law, currently working as an attorney at Sacks Tierney P.A. in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2020, Gottfredson took on the role of managing partner and active shareholder at the firm, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the University of Arizona Law College Association, his alma mater. Recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2021 for Insurance and Commercial Litigation, Gottfredson is currently being honored as “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation – Real Estate in Scottsdale for 2023.

Of his legal career and award, Gottfredson stated: “I’m not quite sure if there is a recent case or representation this past year that stands out more than others, with respect to real estate litigation. Lawyer ability and conduct have a compounding effect—as does staying in one place for a long time! I am extremely thankful to my colleagues for recognizing me for this honor. In handling business and real estate disputes, there is always a new element in every case setting it apart from the rest. The legal claims may be similar, but the personalities of the parties and lawyers involved keep you on your toes. I like solving problems for people, and the uniqueness of the individuals I work with keeps me happy and interested in my work.

“Last year, my team and I settled a case that we had been litigating for roughly two and a half years. It was two weeks before a three-week jury trial was about to begin, and I believed our preparation, as well as the way in which we positioned the case prior to trial, helped push the case into a very favorable settlement. I was very proud of the lawyers, paralegals and experts that I had on my team whose incredible work ethic helped achieve a great result for our client. I believe this has led in part to my current recognition.”

With nearly 15 years of legal experience, Gottfredson represents his clients in complex business-related disputes, including real estate, lending, breaches of contract and other corporate issues. Outside of the courtroom, Gottfredson is an active member of the Arizona and Scottsdale community, having served as a board member for numerous nonprofit organizations. Recently, Gottfredson has dedicated his time to being a member of the Scottsdale Charros, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization comprised of local business and civic leaders committed to supporting the community through youth sports, education and charitable causes.

Concluded Gottfredson: “The pace of litigation can be incredibly frustrating for some clients, which impacts the role of the lawyer managing the case. Most business and real estate litigators, me included, like to resolve their clients’ problems as quickly as possible. Court and rule-imposed deadlines combined with lawyers’ busy calendars can slow down the process of getting to the finish line. Being as prepared as possible for your client in every instance. Whether it is preparing for a phone call with opposing counsel, a client meeting or even a court hearing, nothing stands out more than being prepared to discuss the subject matter in detail when called upon.”
