Trina Fraser, partner at Brazeau Seller Law, is an effective problem solver and trusted advisor to her clients. While having a broad business law background, Trina’s area of expertise is cannabis law. As head of BSL’s CannaLaw® group, Trina has emerged as a leading practitioner in cannabis law in Canada and is often called upon for comment and opinion.

Since 2019, the Chambers Canada guide has ranked Trina as a Band 1 lawyer in Cannabis Law. She has been elected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers™ in Canada each year since 2020 in the field of Cannabis Law. In 2019, she was named by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the Top 25 Most Influential lawyers in Canada, and Trina was named “Attorney of the Year” at the 2019 O’Cannabiz Industry Awards Gala.

Trina represents licensed cannabis cultivators, processors, medical sellers, nurseries, analytical testers, researchers and retailers, as well as ancillary cannabis industry service providers. Her regulatory advice covers the gamut of licensing, security clearance and compliance issues affecting cannabis companies. Trina also advises her clients on commercial matters including change of control transactions and intra-industry (B2B) agreements such as supply arrangements, intellectual property licensing deals and services agreements.

Trina is a registered trademark agent and provides counsel to her clients in protecting their intellectual property.

She studied at Queen’s University, where she earned Bachelor of Commerce and Juris Doctor degrees.

Advocacy and community involvement are very important to Trina. She serves on the board of directors of patient advocacy organization Medical Cannabis Canada (MCC). She is also on the board of Ottawa-based charity The Snowsuit Fund, as well as being its Secretary and Past Chairperson.
