Penina McMahon

My name is Penina McMahon and I focus my practice on all areas of family law, including divorce, post-divorce, parenting rights and responsibilities, child support, alimony, adoption, and guardianships. In addition, I handle trust and estate administration cases. After law school, I worked for several years in Philadelphia where I focused my practice on complex criminal defense appeals in State and Federal Courts. My clients faced life imprisonment and the death penalty, and I developed a deep understanding of the impact the legal system can have on a person and their family. When I moved back to New Hampshire, I transitioned my practice to family law. I appreciate helping my clients navigate these challenging and emotional cases through our complex legal system. I am proud to act as both a teacher, educating my clients about the legal process and their rights, and as an advocate, pushing for the best result for my clients and their family.

I attended Plymouth State University where I received a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with minors in Pre-Law and Anthropology/Sociology. I received my law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law (formerly known as Franklin Pierce Law Center). During law school, I was a member of the Daniel Webster Scholars Program: an innovative honors program focused on creating practice-ready lawyers by utilizing a hands-on learning approach. I also received two awards for my work in public service with the Division for Children, Youth & Families and New Hampshire Legal Assistance.

In my free time, you’ll find me spending time with my family. I love to be outside, hiking, cycling, gardening, and traveling.
