I am excited to join a team that will leverage my experience and expertise in corporate and energy law, and recent legislative experience in the 42nd Parliament.

My previous work as an engineer, patent agent and Member of Parliament, required that I consistently demonstrate a collaborative, rigorous approach to solving problems, building consensus and delivering on strategic direction. From November 2015 until October 2019 , I was the Member of Parliament for the Riding of St. John’s East. My most fulfilling roles in public life were as the chair of the Atlantic Liberal Caucus, the chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and as a member of the House of Commons Standing Committees on Natural Resources and Government Operations and Estimates.

Throughout my professional life, I had had the opportunity to achieve success for organizations of all sizes, for both new and established companies, in the not-for-profit sector and in relation to complex organizational matters that came before Parliamentary Committees, where I played a key role. My training in law and engineering nurtured my skills to get quickly to the heart of an issue, and to triage and manage issues based on importance, urgency and cost.

Born and raised in St. John’s, NL, I earned an LLB from McGill University and earned both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Engineering from Queen’s University. I am currently a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and an Attorney in the State of New York. I am also a non-practicing member of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador. I look forward to meeting you.
