Client Comments

"Jim Swiger spoke in easy to understand, laymen terms to me as the client, but was extremely well versed when it came to the complexities and semantics of the law. Jim also assisted and took control in a complex three party lawsuit that, without his helping another lawyer involved in the case, may have had a tragic and far less prosperous outcome. I would highly recommend Jim for anyone that wants a pit bull on their side in court and a golden retriever behind the scene! "Excellence at law" is the only way to describe Jim Swiger!"

"Jim is well-respected in the legal field in Northern Va. and was highly recommended to me. He was proactive with my case, which stretched the maximum years allowed. I appreciated the fact that he took the time to explain things to me. Jim's knowledge about workers compensation law is unsurpassed. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to anyone."

"Mr. Swiger has shown a degree of professionalism that is hard to find in today's lawyers who are more often in it for the quick buck. Mr. Swiger has gone through the long haul to ensure that I, as a client, was not only treated fairly but with a sense of the law that I was entitled to. His timeliness in answering questions even though they may have been asked repeatedly was outstanding. Mr. Swiger has communicated my wishes and concern's to one of the largest insurance companies in this Country, always giving the right advice at the right time. His level of experience and ease of interacting with lawyers who were working against his client has impressed me. I feel at ease allowing him to represent me any time and would think of using no other."

"Jim Swiger salvaged a case on the verge of dismissal, which I naively thought I could pursue on my own before the Virginia Workers Compensation Commission. His expertise in the intricacies of compensation law, his knowledge of commission policies and administrative procedures, and an intimate familiarity with the individuals involved in this field (from commission personnel to employers and opposing attorneys) were invaluable in pursuing this case to a successful conclusion. I was impressed and pleased in every way with his professional handling of the case, from the time he explained my options and accurately described the probable course of events, until final settlement. He did an outstanding job of guiding me in providing documentation, obtaining expert opinion, explaining his strategy, keeping me informed of developments, and responding to last minute demands and deadlines. His attention to detail, timely filings and motions, understated and deferential courtroom technique with subpoenaed witnesses, and easy working relationship with the employer, insurer, and opposing attorney, did not diminish his aggressive pursuit of my interests in the initial Commission hearing - and later before the full commission in Richmond. As a result, the Commission rendered the maximum compensatory judgment. Given the unexpectedly large award, which was to be appealed to the state Supreme Court, his thoughtful counsel and tactful negotiation with the insurer representing the employer resulted in a fair and accelerated settlement more than 80 percent of the maximum and over tenfold what I had originally anticipated. This would not have been possible without his representation. Should I ever be in need of legal representation of any kind, Jim will be the first one I will contact. "
