Isabel Mateu specialises in Litigation and Arbitration. She has extensive experience as an expert lawyer in litigations, advising national and international companies during the pre-trial and trial phases. Her practice has mainly focused on civil liability, defective products, national and intra-European debt recovery, enforcement of foreign judgements, contractual conflicts and insurance, amongst other areas.
Isabel Mateu regularly participates in lectures and congresses and gives conferences on the subject of procedural law, especially in relation to intra-European and international litigation.
She was appointed an expert by the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of the European Union (CCBE) in relation to the Green Paper on European payment order procedure and measures to simplify and speed up small claims litigation. She was also named an expert by the European Economic and Social Committee in relation to the exam on the Green Paper on European payment order procedure and measures to simplify and speed up small claims litigation (2003). She represented the CCBE in a Conference on Practical Obstacles in Cross Border Litigation organised by the Dutch presidency of the EU (November 2004).
Teaching — Isabel Mateu is a member of the teaching staff for the Masters in Procedural Law organised by the Higher Institute of Business and Law (ISDE). She has also provided training at the Escuela Judicial (2006-2007) and the International University of Catalonia (2006-2011).
