Amanda DeMatteis represents individuals in litigation, particularly employment, personal injury, and workers’ compensation. She represents employees in both state and federal courts in a wide variety of employment matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination (on the basis of pregnancy, sex, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion or national origin), sexual harassment, defamation, retaliation, and hostile work environment. Amanda has successfully tried multiple cases to verdict in both employment and personal injury matters.

In addition to her employment litigation practice, Amanda negotiates cases and advises clients on employment contracts, severance negotiations, non-competition clauses and non-solicitation clauses.

Amanda also represents injured employees in workers’ compensation matters across Connecticut. She successfully helps injured workers get necessary medical treatment, weekly monetary benefits and payment for their injuries.

Amanda and Steve Fitzgerald manage the firm’s personal injury practice, representing injured individuals in all aspects of litigation. From motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls, to dog bites and motorcycle accidents, Amanda frequently helps clients recover money damages for injuries caused by others.

Thanks to her hard work in and out of the courtroom, Amanda has been recognized by SuperLawyers as a Connecticut Rising Star every year since 2015. This distinction is given to only 2.5% of Connecticut attorneys under the age of 40.

Amanda proudly serves as the President of the Connecticut Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), an organization for attorneys who represent employees in all aspects of employment law in Connecticut. Amanda is an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) as an Affiliate Leader and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) as the Co-Chair of the Employment Law Section. Amanda is also a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and serves as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF).

A native of Hamden, Connecticut, Amanda earned her law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she was the recipient of a Service to the Law School Award, was the Founder and President of the Labor and Employment Law Society, served as a Senator for the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Mock Trial Society, also serving on its Executive Board. Amanda received her B.S. from Sacred Heart University, where she majored in Political Science, was inducted into multiple honor societies and served as Class President.
