Best Lawyers Celebrates Milestone 15th Edition of The Best Lawyers in Germany
AUGUSTA, Ga., 16 June 2023 — As the oldest and most respected guide to the legal procession globally, Best Lawyers® is pleased to announce the release of the 15th edition of The Best Lawyers in Germany™ and the third edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany™.
“With this milestone edition, Best Lawyers is proud to continue to honor the deserving and exceptional legal talent in Germany,” said CEO of Best Lawyers Phillip Greer. “It is also a pleasure to recognize those earlier in their legal careers with our ‘Ones to Watch’ accolades, now in its third edition. We congratulate all the lawyers and firms recognized this year.”
The 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Germany recognizes 6,144 lawyers from 1,161 firms working in 86 practice areas across 15 metropolitan areas. The three practice areas with the largest number of honorees in the 15th edition are Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Intellectual Property Law.
In addition to the traditional Best Lawyers accolades, 210 lawyers were bestowed a “Lawyer of the Year” designation in this historic edition. This distinction is only given to the one lawyer with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region.
The third edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Germany is conducted utilizing the same Purely Peer Review™ methodology as all Best Lawyers recognitions. Lawyers are the best equipped resource to provide feedback on the caliber of work performed by their peers, and the honorees on this year’s list have been identified by their fellow constituents as the top up and coming legal talent, averaging 3-8 years working in private practice. In the 2024 edition, 1,023 lawyers from 214 firms working in 32 practice areas across 10 metropolitan areas were recognized. The three practice areas with the largest number of “Ones to Watch” honorees in the third edition are Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Litigation.
Also recognized within the 15th edition of The Best Lawyers in Germany are 21 “Law Firm of the Year” honorees. These firms are reviewed based on a handful of factors, including feedback from lawyers recognized by Best Lawyers on individual lawyer and firm-wide work, the size and coverage of the firm in a specific practice area, historical analysis of the firm’s “Lawyer of the Year” awards in this area and research surrounding the firm’s overall scope and areas of expertise.
