Best Lawyers Expands Chilean Lawyer Rankings in 2024 Editions

AUGUSTA, Ga., 9 November 2023 – Best Lawyers®, the oldest and most respected Purely Peer Review™ legal research and accolades company globally, today expands its Chilean rankings to include lawyers earlier in their careers in the inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Chile™. Alongside traditional The Best Lawyers in Chile™ recognitions, the accolades continue Best Lawyers’ dedication to broadening the offerings of credible legal rankings across additional practice areas and geographic areas.

“As global issues expand the connectivity of the legal industry, it is with great pride that Best Lawyers is able to expand our highly respected awards validated by local lawyers through our Purely Peer Review methodology,” said CEO of Best Lawyers Phillip Greer. “We congratulate all of the lawyers conferred on by their colleagues in these 2024 editions.”

The 14th edition of The Best Lawyers in Chile recognizes 1,119 listed lawyers across 55 practice areas. The five practice areas with the largest representation of honorees are Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation, Tax Law and Labor and Employment Law. In addition to the traditional Best Lawyers accolades, 41 lawyers were bestowed a “Lawyer of the Year” designation in this 2024 edition. This distinction is only given to the one lawyer with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region.

The inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Chile is conducted utilizing the same Purely Peer Review methodology as traditional Best Lawyers recognitions. Lawyers are the best equipped resource to provide feedback on the caliber of work performed by their peers, and the honorees on this year’s list have been identified by their fellow constituents as the top up and coming legal talent, averaging 3-8 years working in private practice. In the 2024 edition, 157 lawyers working in 24 practice areas were recognized. The five practice areas with the largest number of “Ones to Watch” honorees in the inaugural edition are Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Litigation, Environmental Law and Banking and Finance Law.

Also recognized within the 14th edition of The Best Lawyers in Chile are 16 “Law Firm of the Year” honorees. These firms are reviewed based on a handful of factors, including feedback from lawyers recognized by Best Lawyers on individual lawyer and firm-wide work, the size and coverage of the firm in a specific practice area, historical analysis of the firm’s “Lawyer of the Year” awards in this area and research surrounding the firm’s overall scope and areas of expertise.
