Zool K. B. Suleman KC

Zool Suleman, QC, the founder of Suleman & Co., is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School (1989) and served as a Law Clerk at the Federal Court of Canada (Appeal Division) in 1990-91. He articled with a national law firm before establishing his own firm (1992).

Mr. Suleman is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has extensive experience in Canadian immigration law matters and restricts his practice to this area of law.

He has organized seminars, made presentations, and published papers on various immigration topics for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association (at the National and the Regional level), Amnesty International, Insight Seminars, and the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (at the National level).

He has also presented talks on immigration and social justice issues at the University of British Columbia Law School, Simon Fraser University, and at the University of Windsor Department of Communications. He is a sessional instruction of law courses at Douglas College.

He was awarded the title of "Queen’s Counsel" (QC) by the Attorney General of British Columbia in December 2017 for his contributions to the law and for demonstrating "a superb record of achievement and commitment" to British Columbia’s legal system.

Mr. Suleman is often called upon to comment on Canadian Immigration topics and has done so for regional, national and international media outlets.Since 2005, Mr. Suleman has been active with the City of Vancouver Mayor’s Working Group on Immigration. He has been the Chair (appointed by Mayor Campbell in 2005-2006), Co-Chair (appointed by Mayor Sullivan in 2006-2009), and Past Chair (appointed by Mayor Robertson in 2009-2014; and 2014-2018). He has also been a consultant to the City of Vancouver Social Planning department on various projects as a consultant and writer, and received the 2017 Award of Excellence from the City of Vancouver, Diversity and Inclusion (Individual Category).

He has been rated as a “Best Lawyer” for the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

He has been ranked as a “Leading Lawyer” by LEXPERT Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

He has been voted “Best Immigration Lawyer” in Vancouver – by the Best of Georgia Straight Magazine 2011 (1st) and (2nd) in 2012, 2013 and 2016.

In addition to his immigration interests, Mr. Suleman has been active in supporting and arts and multicultural activities. He has served on the Boards of several arts organizations.
