Biography
Zoë Vermeulen advises businesses on labor and employment matters, commercial litigation, offshore energy, and admiralty and maritime law. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, she represents employers across a range of industries and focuses on practical legal guidance that aligns with each client’s operational and business objectives while accounting for an evolving regulatory environment.
As part of her Litigation – Labor and Employment practice at Kean Miller, Zoë works closely with management and human resources professionals on day-to-day employment issues and complex disputes. Her practice includes litigating wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Davis-Bacon Act, and applicable state laws, as well as defending employers against allegations of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under Title VII, the FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and related statutes. She also advises on employment agreements, restrictive covenants, workplace policies, and executive compensation matters.
Zoë also represents companies in the energy sector in contract negotiation and litigation, including disputes involving defense and indemnity provisions, master service agreements, operating agreements, production handling agreements, offshore decommissioning activities, IBLA appeals, property damage claims, and significant personal injury matters. Her practice regularly involves issues arising under General Maritime Law, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, and the Jones Act.
