William B. Burford is a partner in the firm's Oil & Gas/Energy section. His practice focuses on Natural Resources Law and Oil and Gas Law, with experience handling oil and gas title examination and transactional matters involving fee, state, and federal lands in Texas and New Mexico.
Mr. Burford advises clients on a broad range of energy-related legal matters, including title review, due diligence, leasing, acquisitions, divestitures, and other transactions associated with oil and gas development. He has worked extensively with title issues affecting exploration, production, and operational activities across multiple jurisdictions.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Burford is active in professional and industry organizations related to Oil and Gas Law. He is a past chair of the State Bar of Texas Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section and has frequently spoken on oil and gas topics before legal and industry groups. Since its inception, he has served on the joint editorial board responsible for developing title examination standards established by the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
Mr. Burford also serves as the Texas reporter for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s quarterly Mineral Law Newsletter, contributing updates and analysis on developments affecting the energy industry and Natural Resources Law.
