After many years of practicing law with a large prestigious firm, Trip Walton decided to build his own firm around a core of attorneys with superior trial skills, who would share the same goal of standing up and fighting for the rights of those who cannot fight for themselves.

Trip is a former Golden Gloves Heavyweight Boxing Champion. The values of a fighter are honor, dignity, pride and sportsmanship. Trip learned that aggressive hard work, persistence and diligence pay off – in the boxing ring and in the courtroom.

Trip has a well-earned reputation in the Personal Injury, Tractor Trailer Collision, Traumatic Brain Injury and Mediation arena. Trip is highly regarded in these areas of practice and has been asked to speak at various professional conferences across the country.

Trip has tirelessly fought, standing up to the big insurance companies, winning multi-million and million dollar settlements for his clients. Trip also has established a practice of defending those accused of a crime.

Trip is rated AV Preeminent by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating Service, which means he has been rated by his peers as having the highest level of legal ability and ethical standards. He has also been selected yearly as an Alabama Super Lawyer since 2011, Top Attorney’s in Alabama since 2011, and 100 Top Trial Lawyer’s since 2011. In 2020 Mr. Walton joined a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars by accepting a fellowship of the American Bar Association.

While in college and law school, he enjoyed a successful amateur heavyweight boxing career with a 20-1 record. As an amateur heavyweight fighter, he was known for his knockout punch with 18 first round knockout victories. His record includes the Auburn University and Southeastern Regional Intercollegiate Titles in 1978; a win in the Georgia Golden Gloves Tournament in 1980; the Alabama AAU Open-Class Heavyweight Championship in 1981; and he concluded his boxing career in 1982 by winning the Alabama Golden Gloves Heavyweight Championship.

Trip is an Eagle Scout and was a member of the Auburn University Football Team and the Auburn University Debate Team. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.

Before founding Walton Law Firm in 2001, Trip served as a Deputy District Attorney in Montgomery County, AL where he prosecuted numerous felony cases including capital murder, murder, rape, robbery, dealing of marijuana, dealing of cocaine, trafficking of illegal drugs, arson, and other felony type offenses. Trip left the DA’s office in Montgomery and began his private practice with Harper and Meadows Law Firm in Auburn, Alabama. Senior partner Bobby Harper became a circuit judge in Lee County and thereafter Trip and Bob Meadows joined forces with Walker, Hill, Adams, Umbach, Meadows and Walton. While a partner with the Walker-Hill firm, in Opelika/Auburn, Trip handled the City prosecution duties for the City of Auburn, for approximately five (5) years. He also built his personal injury/wrongful death practice while a partner at the Walker-Hill firm.

$17.5 Million Insurance Fraud Verdict
Fraud committed by life insurance Company resulting in denial of death benefits. Life Insurance Company denied death benefits to widow upon the death of her spouse claiming that she and her husband had misrepresented his health history during the application process. At trial, plaintiff proved that life insurance agent had changed the application after leaving the insureds home by filling out a new application thereby forging the insureds signature to said new application which misrepresented the decedents health history. In other words, when they initially filled out the application, the insured and his wife informed the insurance agent that he had prior heart problems and a heart attack. Because the agent knew that this would prevent the sale of the policy, he prepared a new application after leaving the insureds home whereby he forged their signatures. Plaintiff proved this particular agent had a pattern and practice of fraudulent and illegal activity the same as and/or similar to what occurred in this particular case. The jury returned with a verdict of $17,500,000.00.
$2.75 Million Wrongful Death Settlement
Wrongful Death caused by collision between two tractor trailer vehicles at an intersection. The defendant tractor trailer was driving in a dense fog at approximately 40 to 45 mph. Although he was familiar with the area, he passed several warning signs before running the stop sign where upon the collision occurred. When he entered the intersection without stopping, our client collided with him, causing immediate death. Defendant driver was driving too fast for the conditions and failed to keep a proper look-out. Settled for $2,750,000.00.
$3.5 Million Personal Injury Settlement
Multi-million dollar settlement for serious personal injuries caused by motor vehicle collision between business owned pick-up truck and rear of plaintiff’s vehicle. Plaintiff had slowed down in traffic behind a tractor-trailer. The defendant struck plaintiff from behind pushing her under the tractor-trailer. Plaintiff suffered a traumatic brain injury and two brain bleeds as well as fractures to her lower back, pelvic area, ribs, and wrist. She underwent numerous surgical procedures regarding her injures and suffers permanent impairment. Case settled for $3,500,000.00.
$4 Million Wrongful Death Settlement
Wrongful death caused by Mesothelioma. Decedent developed mesothelioma cancer after having worked in an industry that used asbestos in the construction process. Case resulted in a confidential settlement with multiple defendants in excess of $4,000,000.00.
$6.75 Million Brain Injury Settlement
A tractor trailer dump truck was traveling southbound on the interstate. The temperature was below freezing with drizzling rain and sleet. The dump truck was traveling in excess of 70 mph. The driver ignored the yellow warning sign just before the bridge that read “caution bridge may ice in winter”. The driver ignored the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding extreme weather conditions. As the dump truck crossed the icy bridge, the driver lost control. He crossed the median and struck the plaintiff who had parked on the other side of the interstate. Plaintiff was about to get out of his vehicle the render aid to a motorist who had been involved in a collision. Plaintiff was flown to a trauma hospital and was thereafter transferred to a TBI unit at a rehabilitation facility. Case settled for $6,750,000.00.
$7.5 Million Spine Injury Settlement
Paralysis caused by motor vehicle collision between tractor-trailer and rear of plaintiffs vehicle. Plaintiff was struck from behind by tractor-trailer immediately rendering him a quadriplegic. Plaintiff also made separate claim against another driver for contributing to the cause of the collision. Cases resulted in a confidential settlement with all defendants in excess of $7,500,000.00.
$8 Million Brain Injury Settlement
Serious traumatic brain injury caused by motor vehicle collision involving commercial vehicle. Plaintiff was traveling on a two-lane highway when defendant suddenly turned in front of plaintiff thereby failing to yield right of way causing the collision. In addition to suffering a serious TBI causing both physical and mental impairment, the plaintiff suffered numerous other injuries requiring multiple surgical procedures. Case resulted in settlement in excess of $8,000,000.00.
