Biography

Vic Suane is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana attorney with Kean Miller whose practice centers on Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Environmental, and Oil and Gas Law. He represents clients in complex disputes in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative and regulatory agencies. Vic is known for a practical and thoughtful approach to advocacy that remains focused on client objectives both in and out of the courtroom. His experience includes matters involving oil and gas operations, regulatory compliance, Act 312 claims, soil and groundwater contamination, wetlands loss, pipeline right-of-way negotiations and expropriation, toxic torts, lost leasing opportunities, and other commercial and environmental claims.

Vic represents Fortune 25, Fortune 250, Fortune 500, and independent energy companies in multi-jurisdictional litigation brought by governmental entities alleging damages related to historical oil and gas activities and Louisiana coastal land loss. He also represents supermajor, major, and independent oil and gas companies in Louisiana legacy lawsuits brought by landowners seeking property and remediation damages, including claims involving surface and subsurface conditions, sediment, NORM, groundwater contamination, and wetlands loss arising from historical exploration, transportation, and production activities.

In addition, Vic handles commercial, royalty, and production disputes, including production in paying quantity claims brought by lessors seeking damages or lease cancellation. He assists operators and former operators with site closure matters and requests for letters of no further action before the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. His practice also includes expropriation and other property law matters, such as pipeline rights-of-way disputes involving federal and state eminent domain and surface rights laws in south Louisiana.

Beyond the energy sector, Vic represents businesses and organizations across a broad range of general litigation matters. His work includes resolving disputes involving alleged personal injury claims, defamation and restriction of privilege issues, breach of contract claims, and other commercial conflicts.
