A Nationally Recognized Leader in Family Law and Dispute Resolution

Vicki L. Shemin brings more than 35 years of experience in family law to her role as Partner at Turco Legal’s Boston office. Widely regarded as one of Massachusetts’ most respected attorneys, mediators, collaborative law practitioners, and parenting coordinators, she has built a career at the intersection of law, mental health, and conflict resolution. Vicki is regularly recognized for her excellence in the field, including being named a “Top Ten Family Law Attorney in Massachusetts” and a “Top Rated Lawyer: Women Leaders in the Law.”

Dual‑Degree Expertise: Blending Legal Strategy with Emotional Insight

Vicki holds a J.D. (cum laude) from Boston University School of Law and an M.S.W. from the University of Maryland. Her background allows her to support clients in navigating both the legal and emotional complexities of family transitions. Her practice includes high-conflict custody cases, complex financial disputes, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and nontraditional approaches like marital mediation and “agreements to stay married.” She is also a certified family mediator in both Massachusetts and Florida, offering multi-jurisdictional insight where needed.

Specialization in High-Conflict Cases and Interdisciplinary Practice

Vicki maintains an active LICSW license and consistently fulfills the continuing education requirements to remain current in mental health, social work, and trauma-informed practice. She is regularly appointed by the court as a Guardian ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator, is trained in Collaborative Law, and is certified as a family mediator in both Massachusetts and Florida. Her practice includes complex custody disputes, marital mediation, postnuptial agreements, and unique solutions such as agreements to stay married.

Leadership, Education, and Professional Impact

Throughout her career, Vicki has held leadership roles in organizations such as the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation and the Massachusetts Chapter of AFCC. She serves on education committees, teaches at Northeastern and Boston University as an adjunct professor, and chairs CLE panels for the Massachusetts Bar Association. She is also a widely published writer and media contributor—her work has appeared in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, The Boston Globe, Huffington Post, and other outlets focused on the evolving practice of family law.

A Balanced, Client-Centered Approach

Vicki’s clinical background and legal experience converge in her steady, empathetic approach to client care. Known for her ability to listen deeply and analyze situations from both legal and emotional angles, she helps clients navigate high-stakes, high-emotion matters with structure and clarity. Her work is grounded in the belief that thoughtful legal planning and multidisciplinary insight can lead to more durable, empowering outcomes for families in transition.
