Veronica Holmes is an Associate at The Geller Law Group, specializing in all areas of Family Law, including divorce, custody and visitation, child support, and spousal support. Veronica is a dedicated advocate for her clients. She guides them through one of the most challenging times in their lives, helping them plan to be happy and fulfilled after divorce. Veronica also enjoys working with complex custody matters, helping clients understand the legal system when caring for their children.
Prior to joining the firm, Veronica practiced with a boutique personal injury law firm specializing in litigation in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. She also has served as Legislative Counsel at the Council of the District of Columbia. While at the Council, Veronica worked to introduce and ultimately pass the Detained Youth Access to the Juvenile Services Program Amendment Act of 2019. This law made permanent a Public Defender program in the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, allowing them access to detained and committed youth for education on their legal rights, legal support, and access to counsel.
Veronica received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.A. from Howard University. Among her prior internships, Veronica has served as a judicial intern at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia, a law clerk at a small general litigation firm in Washington D.C., and a legal intern for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
Veronica is licensed to practice in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association; The Trial Lawyers Association of Washington, D.C.; Virginia Trial Lawyers; Northern Virginia Black Attorney’s Association; and The Greater Washington Area Chapter, Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association (GWAC).
Veronica also makes it a priority to volunteer her time and services. She is currently a volunteer with the Christian Legal Aid of the District of Columbia and enjoys volunteering with various organizations. Additionally, she supports the Legal Services of Northern Virginia Attorney of the Day Program and regularly participates in Fairfax Law Foundation events.
In 2024, Veronica presented a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) session for the Fairfax Bar Association Annual Convention on the topics of “What is DEI?”, the benefits of DEI policies, the changing demographics in the legal field both nationally and locally, and how to implement DEI policies in local firms and organizations.
Outside of work, Veronica loves to travel, read, and attend musicals or live events. She also enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.
