Valerie Edwards is a senior member of the Litigation Group at Torkin Manes LLP in Toronto, Ontario. She represents clients in complex litigation matters and has appeared as trial and appellate counsel before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. With more than 25 years at the Bar, Valerie advises clients on a broad range of disputes involving damages analysis, business loss claims, business and share valuations, and real property valuations.
Her practice includes Alternative Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Legal Malpractice Law, and Professional Malpractice Law. Valerie regularly acts in matters involving partnership and shareholder disputes, contract claims, real estate litigation, fiduciary obligations, departing employees, and professional liability issues. She works with businesses, professionals, insurers, and individuals to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Valerie is also a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education programs sponsored by the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association on substantive and procedural legal issues. In addition, she is a former lecturer at the University of Toronto and previously taught with the Bar Admission Section (Civil Litigation and Risk Management) of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
