Tobias Somary heads the private client team of the firm. He specialises in the area of estate and succession planning, prenuptial agreements, estate administration, inheritance disputes, foundations & trusts, charities, art, private banking laws, and in- and outbound relocation.

After having worked with a large Zurich law firm (Baer & Karrer) in 1998 and 1999, Tobias Somary joined CMS in 2000. In 2004 he completed post-graduate studies at Stanford University, California, and subsequently worked with Fenwick & West LLP in Mountain View, California, before returning to CMS. Since 2008 he is a partner at the firm and heads the domestic and the international Private Client Specialty Group. In addition, he is the leader of the estate planning chapter of the Zurich Bar Association.

As a trusted advisor to private clients and entrepreneurs, Tobias Somary serves as board member in several corporations, family businesses, and philanthropic organisations. He is also active in the area of the firm's pro bono engagements.

He is a Certified Specialist SBA Inheritance Law, a member of Successio and STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and recognized as TEP (Trust & Estates Practitioner).
