Tim advises on mergers and acquisitions (both regulated and unregulated), capital raising, joint ventures, shareholding arrangements, corporate reorganisations and corporate governance.
Tim is listed as a preeminent Queensland corporate lawyer and leading Queensland commercial lawyer in the 2019 Doyle's guide to the Australian legal profession and as a ranked practitioner in the 2019 Chambers and Partners for corporate and M&A (one of only three Queensland lawyers included in the rankings and the only lawyer from outside of the national and international firms). He is also listed in the 2019 'The Best Lawyers in Australia' guide for Mergers & Acquisitions Law, Corporate Law and Private Equity Law.
Tim has a particular focus on private equity transactions and has acted for a number of leading private equity firms on large management buy-outs and expansion capital deals as well as advising founders on sell-side transactions and management teams on equity and shareholding arrangements.
He was formerly a member of Baker & McKenzie's leading private equity practice in Sydney and has also performed an executive role in a private equity sponsored investee company and is therefore well placed to provide strategic and commercially relevant advice on all aspects of private equity.
Tim also provides advice on directors' duties and other governance issues confronting boards of public and private companies. His own industry experience, including as a former director of Marine Queensland and the Heart Foundation and as a current director of Riviera, provides a valuable insight into the issues faced by company boards.
Tim is passionate about discovering and negotiating solutions to transactional hurdles and complex problems in order to achieve his clients' desired commercial outcomes.
