Thorsten Last

Dr. Thorsten Last studied electrical engineering in the field of information technology/communication technology at the University for Applied Sciences Augsburg as well as at the University of Ulster in Belfast. He completed these studies as a graduate engineer and Master of Engineering in 2001. From 2001 to 2007, Dr. Thorsten Last worked in the semiconductor and computer industry in various technical and managerial capacities. During this time, Dr. Last dealt in particular with developments of microprocessors, DSPs, controllers, firmware and software for applications in the field of signal processing as well as for flash-based storage media, such as USB sticks, CF/SD/MMC cards and solid state disks. In addition to his work in industry, Dr. Thorsten Last completed his doctorate studies at the University of Ulster in Belfast from 2002 to 2007. While working on his doctorate, Dr. Thorsten Last dealt with the development and improvement of methods in the field of signal processing and automated detection of patterns in medical signals, in particular in ECG signals. From early 2008 to the end of 2009 Dr. Thorsten Last worked for a company in the USA and Malaysia in a managerial capacity. During this time, Dr. Thorsten Last supported the set-up of a development department in Malaysia and took care of the development of flash-based storage media, in particular of solid state disks, as well as the improvement of algorithms for securely storing and administering data on flash storage devices. Dr. Thorsten Last has been working in the firm of RGTH Richter · Gerbaulet · Thielemann · Hofmann Patent Attorneys PartGmbB since the beginning of 2010. In 2019, Dr. Thorsten Last is elected by the Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) to be a member of the first Advisory Experts for the National Advisory Center for Overseas Intellectual Property Disputes. Dr. Thorsten Last speaks German, English and French.
