Tom Hyatt is a partner with Thomas K. Hyatt PLLC, based in Washington, District of Columbia. His legal practice focuses on Health Care Law and Nonprofit / Charities Law, with an emphasis on advising tax-exempt organizations on corporate, regulatory, and governance matters. He is a 1979 cum laude graduate of Boston College and earned his Juris Doctor in 1982 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Commerce. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania.

He is the co-author of The Law of Tax Exempt Healthcare Organizations, Third Edition (2008), published by John Wiley & Sons, and authored the chapter titled “Tax Exemption Issues for Healthcare Organizations” in the Health Law Practice Guide, published by Thomson/West. His writing and speaking reflect his ongoing involvement in legal developments affecting nonprofit and charitable organizations in Washington, DC and nationwide.
