Terry L. Rakow

Terry Rakow and I first met when he was a new associate at the law firm of Murphy & Posner in Phoenix. I was in charge of leasing and management for a small retail development company based in Phoenix. I was immediately impressed with Terry's responsiveness, work ethic, and legal acumen. We grew and so did Terry's responsibility with us. I eventually became the Partner in charge of development for our company and we became a major national developer of super regional retail experiences. Throughout this period, I relied on Terry for transactional work, negotiation support, litigation expertise, and general good counsel. When our partnership was acquired by the nations fourth largest REIT, senior management was asked to form a new entity to joint venture with the REIT. We did and Terry continues to support us legally, as well as continuing to do work for the REIT's local office. Terry has an incredibly astute sense of the deal and is a deal maker, not a deal breaker. He is a tenacious litigator but knows how to diffuse situations and focus on facts, not emotions. His grasp of the law is the equal of anyone in the profession I have ever worked with. Most importantly, his ethics and values are impeccable. He has become our family's attorney and trusted advisor, and I know he serves in the same capacity for many prominent Phoenix families. Terry is a credit to the legal profession and to our community. I'm proud to have known him these last 35 years.
