Biography

Taylon Sumners joined Wampler Passanise as an Attorney-at-Law in 2020. She completed her Juris Doctor at Washburn University School of Law, graduating with Dean’s Honors. Sumners represents clients facing serious criminal offenses, including murder, drug-related charges, sex offenses, and DUIs, and has been with the firm since 2015, working as a Legal Assistant while attending law school.

In 2022 and 2023, Sumners was recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for Criminal Defense: White Collar and was named to the Up-and-Coming category by Missouri Lawyers. She was recognized as a Top 10 Under 40 in Missouri by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys in 2021 and a Trusted Advisor by the Springfield Business Journal. She has been the recipient of AVVO’s Client Choice Award since 2021.

Sumners belongs to the National College for DUI Defense, the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Missouri DWI Institute, and the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Greene County Historical Sites Commission and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women annual fundraising event. She frequently speaks at Missouri Bar and MACDL Conferences, as well as at area colleges and universities, on the topics of criminal justice, DUI, and Title IX.
