Tana Materi has been with Carney Badley Spellman since 1999, serving as a member of the firm's Board of Directors and Chair of its Business Department. Her practice focuses on corporate, finance, and M&A transactions, including representing buyers and sellers across a broad range of industries — retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, food and beverage, construction, dental services, aerospace, and more. She also works extensively with family-owned and closely held businesses on contract negotiation, corporate governance, and shareholder disputes, and serves as outside general counsel to a number of private companies in the Pacific Northwest.
Materi is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Corporate/M&A Law (2025, 2026) and is listed in Legal 500 (2026). She was also recognized for multiple years as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers magazine. Prior to practicing law, she served as a finance officer and Captain in the Canadian Air Force, including as Squadron Logistics Officer for the Canadian Forces Air Demonstration Team, The Snowbirds, before retiring from the Canadian Forces in 1996.
