Tamara Watson

Tamara Watson practises in the areas of corporate and commercial litigation, dispute resolution, and business law at Loopstra Nixon in Toronto, Ontario. She represents corporations, business owners, and entrepreneurs in contract disputes, shareholder matters, corporate governance issues, and a range of commercial litigation matters.

Tamara has appeared before lower courts and appellate courts and has experience managing complex business disputes through litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution processes. She was recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch for Commercial Litigation. Her background in both litigation and corporate law allows her to provide practical guidance that considers the broader business and operational impacts of legal disputes and transactions.

In her corporate and commercial litigation practice, Tamara advises clients on contractual disputes, shareholder disagreements, governance matters, and other business conflicts. She works with clients to identify practical and cost-effective strategies that align with their business objectives, including opportunities to resolve disputes efficiently outside of court where appropriate.

Tamara earned her Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, where she received awards recognizing academic achievement and community involvement. During law school, she served as a student law clerk at the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and as a peer educator focusing on contract law through the Indigenous Blacks & Mi’kmaq Initiative. She also competed in the Sopinka Cup trial advocacy moot and the McKelvey Cup, where she received awards for Best Overall Advocate and Best Closing.
