Biography

Sylvia acts for a broad range of clients including State-owned corporations, listed companies, professional services firms and government bodies. Her regulatory practice spans matters involving ASIC, ASX, APRA, ACCC, SafeWork NSW, ICAC, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. She is based in Sydney and is Junior Vice President of the Law Society of New South Wales for 2026, first elected to the Council in 2021.

Sylvia advises on high-stakes litigation in the Federal Court and State Supreme Courts, regulatory investigations and enforcement, Corporations Act compliance (including schemes of arrangement, continuous disclosure and market integrity), intellectual property (including confidential information), and corporate governance. She has acted across her career for Deloitte in relation to professional and reputational matters.

Sylvia has appeared for major clients in landmark proceedings. She acted for Integral Energy (now Endeavour Energy) in a critical IT disaster matter, acted for the City of Sydney in its well-known intellectual property litigation against Moses Obeid and Streetscape in relation to the Smartpole, and has acted in a range of Federal and Supreme Court Corporations Act proceedings. Her experience spans shareholder litigation, capital markets advisory and consumer law proceedings.

Sylvia holds the Order of Merit Award from the King of Spain, recognising her broader civic contributions. She combines a regulatory enforcement practice across multiple Australian regulators with substantive court experience in intellectual property and Corporations Act litigation. Her membership of the Law Society of New South Wales Council, and her role as Junior Vice President for 2026, reflects her standing in the Australian legal profession.
