Susan McNeil

Susie McNeil was called to the Queensland Bar in March 2007. She has been named in Doyle’s Guide as one of Queensland’s leading building and construction counsel for the past 9 years, from 2017 to 2025, and one of Australia’s recommended building and construction counsel for the past 8 years, from 2018 to 2025. From 2024, Susie was named in the 17th Edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for her expertise in commercial law, insurance law and litigation. In the 2026 Edition, she was recognised the areas of Construction/Infrastructure Law, Insurance Law, Litigation and Commercial Law.

Susie practices primarily in the following areas of law: commercial disputes, contractual disputes, property law disputes, building and construction, body corporate (strata title) disputes and insurance litigation.

Susie acts as a mediator in construction, commercial, property and insurance disputes.

Susie regularly appears in the courts and tribunals in Queensland, including the Queensland Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, as well as representing parties in commercial arbitrations.

Susie is the Secretary of the Building Dispute Practitioners Society (BDPS) (Queensland Chapter), having previously served as the President between 2021 to 2023. She has been on the committee since 2013.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Susie was a solicitor in Brisbane with Quinlan Miller & Treston Lawyers.
