Steven J. Blanco is a shareholder at Blanco Ordoñez Mata & Wechsler PC in El Paso, Texas, and serves as Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Blanco represents employers and local government entities in a broad range of labor and employment matters. His practice includes employment litigation, wrongful termination and discrimination defense, workplace investigations, employee relations counseling, and representation before state and federal administrative agencies.
With a practice focused on Litigation – Labor and Employment, Mr. Blanco advises businesses, public entities, and management teams on compliance with state and federal employment laws, workplace policies, personnel matters, and dispute resolution. He works with employers across a variety of industries on issues involving wage and hour claims, harassment and retaliation allegations, employment agreements, and human resources practices.
Mr. Blanco is a member of the State Bar of Texas Labor and Employment Law Section, the El Paso Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is also affiliated with the El Paso Society for Human Resource Management. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Blanco currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Workforce Solutions Borderplex Workforce Development Board. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of Texas, was president of the American Lung Association of Texas Western Region Advisory Board, and served as chairman of the Legislative Committee for the El Paso Society for Human Resource Management.
Mr. Blanco is a frequent speaker and author on labor and employment law topics for regional and national human resources organizations and professional education programs. He has contributed articles to the State Bar of Texas Advanced Employment Law Course and the Texas Labor Letter. He has also served as a faculty member for the Human Resources Management: PHR/SPHR Review Course presented by The University of Texas at El Paso Division of Professional and Continuing Education.
