Steven Dorfman is a senior trial attorney at The Perecman Firm with nearly three decades of experience representing victims of catastrophic construction accidents, wrongful death, traumatic brain injuries, and other serious negligence matters throughout New York City.

Mr. Dorfman concentrates on complex, high-exposure construction accident litigation involving scaffold falls, falling objects, structural collapses, crane accidents, and claims brought under New York Labor Law Sections 240(1), 241(6), and 200. He represents both union and non-union workers and handles matters against property owners, general contractors, and major insurers in cases involving significant liability and damages exposure.

He has secured numerous substantial recoveries, including:

• $29,950,000 settlement for the family of a construction worker who fell 44 stories
• $19,000,000 settlement for an ironworker struck by a fallen I-beam
• $12,000,000 settlement for a teamster who sustained a traumatic brain injury
• $6,700,000 settlement for a pedestrian struck by a bus
• $5,000,000 settlement for a pedestrian injured in a school bus accident

Mr. Dorfman also served on the Steering Committee in the Metro-North Valhalla train accident litigation arising from the 2015 crossing tragedy, contributing to coordinated litigation efforts on behalf of victims and their families.

He has argued more than 35 appeals before New York’s appellate courts and serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. His verdicts have been featured in the New York Law Journal’s Top Verdicts in New York.

Mr. Dorfman earned his B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. He is recognized annually by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers.
