Biography

Commercial lending is the focus of Stephen "Steve" P. Strohschein's practice, providing assistance to lenders of all types – real estate, floor plan, asset based and small business – both with regard to litigating lending issues, handling workouts, foreclosures, collections and bankruptcy matters and also frequently providing assistance with lending transactions, structure and documentation.

Steve has been certified by the American Board of Certification as a specialist in the area of Business Bankruptcy Law. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable LeRoy Smallenberger, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana from 1981 to 1982.

Litigation

Litigating commercial lending issues may begin in state or federal court but often end in bankruptcy. If not, there are bankruptcy implications that must be considered whenever suit is brought on a commercial loan. Steve routinely practices in all of these courts and is familiar with the interplay between them.

Business

Even at the time a loan is originated, familiarity with how it may be collected and the implications of a borrower's default and bankruptcy must be considered to properly structure and document the loan. Steve brings a wealth of litigation and bankruptcy experience to his clients that assist in loan documentation and workouts that may never be litigated
