Stephanie E. Lewis is the Managing Shareholder of the Greenville, South Carolina office of Jackson Lewis P.C.

Ms. Lewis frequently represents employers in employment litigation and matters pending before and against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has handled all aspects of employment law but has particularly focused on sexual harassment, pay discrimination, and disability discrimination issues. She regularly presents on employment-related topics to Bar and industry groups and conducts training and provides counsel on employment-related audits.

Ms. Lewis currently services on the Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association, the Employment and Labor Section of the South Carolina Bar, United Ministries, and the Paralegal Advisory Board for Greenville Technical College. She is a member and committee chair for the Greenville Downtown Rotary Club, is a member of the Upstate Chapter of the Inns of Court, and serves on the women attorney’s subcommittee for United Way’s Women Leadership Committee. She is a mentor for Pacesetters and a graduate of Leadership Greenville. Ms. Lewis also served on the Executive Board of Directors for the Charleston County Bar from 2005-2007, on the Board of Directors for Crisis Ministries, and is a co-founder of the Crisis Ministries Legal Clinic. In 2006-07, Ms. Lewis was an adjunct Legal Research and Writing professor at the Charleston School of Law. Ms. Lewis was the recipient of the 2006 South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Lawyer award.

Ms. Lewis is the author of the following publications: EEOC Enforcement Procedures: South Carolina Employment Law Handbook (4th ed. 2011); Inside the Judge’s Chambers: A Profile of Judge P. Michael Duffy, District Court Judge For The United States District Court For The District of South Carolina, The South Carolina Defense Line (Spring 2006): Campbell v. Louisiana: Rethinking Access and Remedy for Claims of Discrimination in Jury Selection, 77 N.C. L. . Rev. 1557 (1999); and O’Brien v. O’Brien: The Changing Nature of Property Distribution in North Carolina, 77 N.C. L. Rev. 2280 (1999). She is currently co-authoring an article entitled, Muddying The Waters: The Work of Walking and Waiting, concerning the Supreme Court’s Fair Labor Standards Act decision in IBP, Inc. v. Alvarez, Op. No. 03-1238 (S.Ct. Nov. 8, 2005).

From 2002-04, Ms. Lewis served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Patrick Michael Duffy of the District of South Carolina. From 2000-02, she was a law clerk for U.S. Judge Karen Johnson Williams of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Lewis received her B.A., magna cum laude, from North Carolina State University in 1997 and earned her J.D., with honors, Ms. Lewis earned a Juris Doctor, with High Honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2000, where she was named to the Order of the Coif, served as Articles Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, and received the James E. and Carolyn B. Davis Award for Character and Service.
