Sidney Horn is a senior counsel in the Corporate Group, specializing in commercial, corporate and securities law, advising large domestic and international corporations on complex questions concerning finance, mergers & acquisitions and corporate governance.
Sidney has developed an expertise in complex transactions requiring creative solutions. He represents private equity firms in their investments in private and public corporations, as well as corporations and independent directors in transactions such as going private transactions, related party transactions and insider bids.
Sidney is a member of Boards of Directors of public and private corporations, including Genworth MI Canada Inc. and Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance Company Canada, a Canadian residential mortgage insurance company.
Sidney has won numerous awards, such as the Aime Geoffrion National Program Gold Medal, the I.M.E. Prize in Commercial Law, the Canada Permanent Prize, the Elizaberth Torrance Gold Medal for highest standing throughout the B.C.L. Program, the Lazarus Phillips Prize for highest standing in Company Law and Taxation, the Gerald S. Tritt, Q.C., Prize for highest standing in Special Contracts, the Montreal Bar Association Prize for highest standing in Civil Law, and the Philip Meyerovitch, Q.C. Prize for highest standing in Evidence. In 2002, Lexpert named Sidney as one of Canada's Top 30 Corporate.
