BACKGROUND
Michelle’s practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, global portfolio management, and strategic counseling on patentability, freedom to operate, and patent landscape and white space analysis in the chemical, biological, electrical engineering, and materials science fields. Her technical expertise spans a broad range of technologies, including semiconductors, batteries, electronics, optoelectronics, medical devices, nanotechnology, polymer science, organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Michelle leverages her multidisciplinary background to help clients develop and implement robust patent strategies that align with their business goals. She advises a diverse range of clients, from emerging startups and universities to large corporations.
EXPERIENCE
Before joining Seed IP, Michelle practiced patent law at several boutique intellectual property law firms. Prior to her legal career, she worked as a researcher in academic and industrial laboratories, developing advanced organic functional materials for light-emitting diodes and photovoltaics.
Michelle has authored and co-authored numerous research articles published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at many scientific conferences. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Michelle is admitted to the Washington State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association.
