Shelley Chapelski's practice encompasses
all aspects of maritime law, including maritime contracts, torts, creditor's
remedies and marine insurance matters. She drafts and advises on charter parties,
contracts of carriage, moorage contracts, insurance policies and other
agreements that arise in maritime and transportation law. She has dealt with
dozens of vessel arrests and many maritime limitation of liability proceedings.
Shelley is frequently called upon by many commercial vessel operators, P&I
Clubs and marine insurers, harbours and maritime service providers for
practical and creative solutions to their maritime law issues.
She is the legal adviser to many of the
Small Craft Harbours in British Columbia as well as to their Association.
Shelley has represented clients in the
Provincial, Supreme and Appellate Courts of British Columbia, Alberta and the
Federal Court of Canada. She has also achieved numerous successful results for
clients through the mediation process.
