Biography

Shelby K. Taylor combines her legal experience with effective engagement to help clients navigate a broad range of employment law matters. Shelby’s practice is built on a complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution background, concentrating on labor and employment litigation matters. Her experience includes defending management and providing guidance on a variety of employment issues, including claims involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and state antidiscrimination laws. Shelby’s practice also includes representing employers in unfair competition and trade secret disputes against former employees and cases involving emergency injunctive relief.

Additionally, Shelby advises employers on best practices for establishing and maintaining regulatory compliance to reduce litigation risks. She serves as a resource to help business owners and human resources professionals work through day-to-day issues such as employee hiring, investigations, discipline, compensation, terminations, and much more. Shelby also works with employers to draft multistate compliant noncompetition, nonsolicitation, and nondisclosure agreements to fit a company’s unique needs. She also regularly prepares Texas and multistate compliant employee handbooks and severance agreements.

While in law school, Shelby served as president of the law school’s Labor and Employment Law Student Association and as a case note and comment editor for the International Law Review Association.
