Sharon Ramage has devoted her professional career to helping families and children as both a social worker and a family law attorney. Based in McKinney, Texas, Sharon serves clients throughout North Texas through The Ramage Law Group, focusing her practice on Family Law and matters involving children and families. Her background as a former social worker gives her a practical understanding of the emotional and legal challenges families often face during periods of transition.
Since 1992, Sharon has represented clients in a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, adoption, and issues involving children with special needs. Before entering private practice, Sharon served as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Tarrant County from 1992 to 1997. From 1995 to 1997, she was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Division, where she handled matters involving the protection and welfare of children.
In 1997, Sharon founded her private practice with a continued commitment to serving families and protecting the best interests of children. As an adoptive parent herself, she values the opportunity to help families grow through both domestic and international adoptions. Her experience allows her to guide clients through complex family law matters with compassion, preparation, and attention to detail.
In addition to her family law practice, Sharon has extensive experience assisting families of children with disabilities. For 12 years, she served as a Special Education Hearing Officer and Mediator for the Texas Education Agency, conducting special education due process hearings and mediating disputes between parents and school districts. Her work in this area has provided her with valuable insight into the educational rights and services available to children with special needs.
Sharon is also a co-author of the book All About Texas Law and Kids, published by Texas Lawyer Press. She is frequently invited to speak to attorneys, educators, parent organizations, and professional groups on topics related to family law and special education law. Sharon has served on the faculty of the National Academy for IDEA Administrative Law Judges & Hearing Officers and has participated in National Administrative Law Judiciary Conferences. She also regularly presents educational programs for local bar associations, disability organizations, and community groups.
