Shane’s practice encompasses all aspects of patent and trademark preparation and prosecution to protect clients’ innovations from competitors. He prepares patent applications in the United States and foreign jurisdictions covering a variety of technologies, including biochemical, chemical, medical device, mechanical, and software. In addition, Shane assists clients with trademark prosecution and clearance, including investigating search results and preparing risk analysis for new trademarks. Before joining the firm full-time, Shane was a summer associate and performed legal research; drafted formal and informal memoranda; reviewed and finalized deposition designations; and organized exhibits and objections. After earning his bachelor’s degree in biology, Shane worked for PPD, Inc., a global contract research organization, as an associate scientist performing complex analytical methods to analyze pharmaceutical compounds. He provided training to junior analysts and was responsible for 5S management tasks and writing non-conformances.
