Sergio Bermudes founded Sergio Bermudes Advogados in 1969.
Working for almost 50 years in law, Sergio Bermudes is recognized in the legal and business environment, as one of the most important lawyers in Brazil, for his firm and dedicated performance before the courts, in the country and abroad, as well as for the quality of the consultancy that provides to its customers.
Early in his career, in the 1970s, Sergio Bermudes sponsored the cause of Vladimir Herzog's widow, when the dictatorship was defeated for the first time in the judiciary, which acknowledged that the journalist was murdered while in the custody of the army.
Since the 1980s, Sergio Bermudes assumed the leadership position in civil litigation and in the area of ??corporate restructuring, operating throughout the country, until today, in relevant issues of numerous large companies, including in the billionaire dispute. of savers against financial institutions, on the remuneration of savings accounts during the financial plans of the 1980s and 1990s, which finally reached an agreement in 2017.
Sergio Bermudes' excellent performance led to the significant growth of his office, established today in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília and Belo Horizonte, with more than 130 lawyers and consultants, at the head of a modern and efficient structure of support, formed by more than 250 employees and 120 interns.
Sergio Bermudes started his teaching career in 1970, in university teaching, as Assistant Professor of General Theory of the State at the Faculty of Law of the University of the State of Guanabara, and as a ruling professor in the subject of Civil Procedural Law at the Brazilian Faculty of Legal Sciences of Rio de Janeiro, of which he became holder, approved by the Federal Council of Education, in 1971. In 1978, he assumed the chair of Civil Procedural Law at the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, also integrating the Council of Development of that University.
Throughout his career, he has been a member of numerous competition boards for entry to the judiciary, the Rio de Janeiro State Attorney's Office, the Rio de Janeiro State Attorney's Office and other public positions, as well as held hundreds of conferences in practically all colleges Brazilian law, in sections of the Bar Association, in congresses and seminars and in other legal events, in the country and abroad.
By appointment of the Government of the Republic, in 1985, he was part of the committee of five proceduralists appointed to revise the Code of Civil Procedure.
He held the position of Judge of the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro for two years.
