Sébastien Richemont

Sébastien Richemont has over 20 years of commercial litigation experience. In court, he is both formidable and passionate, and out of court he is a strategic counsellor in litigious matters and devoted partner to his colleagues and clients. As a frequent speaker and teacher, he also appreciates the academic aspects of the law. His areas of expertise include contractual disputes, class actions, manufacturer’s liability, professionals liability (lawyers, accountants, engineers), as well as shareholder disputes, securities litigation, and arbitrations. He has acted in a number of high-profile cases, including the restructuring of the Canadian Asset-Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) market, following the liquidity crisis of 2007, in the context of which he represented a group of Quebec corporations holding an aggregate of $1.2 billion of ABCP. He has also acted in the matter of Automobiles Jalbert v. BMW which resulted in a judgment of principle by the Court of Appeal, as well as in a number of arbitrations in the information technology sector.
