About Sebastian
Sebastian’s entire legal career has been devoted to acting for insurers in personal injury claims. He now practices predominantly in NSW CTP litigation and frequently appears in the Personal Injury Commission. He also represents insurers and their insureds in proceedings before the Local, District, and Supreme Court of NSW, the NSW Court of Appeal, and the High Court.
What he does
Sebastian’s practice focuses on major and catastrophic claims involving seriously injured claimants. He has a keen interest in assisting insurers with claims involving complex liability issues and potential fraud, and claimants with brain injuries, amputations, and complex psychiatric injuries. Sebastian’s work is defined by exceptional technical expertise, and commercial pragmatism driven by a thorough understanding of individual clients’ business drivers.
Who he works with
Sebastian works with NSW licensed CTP insurers. In the past, he has acted for interstate insurers, NSW workers compensation scheme agents, self-insureds, and icare in workers compensation claims.
Qualifications
Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business (Finance) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Life before Sparkes
Sebastian joined Sparkes from Curwoods Lawyers. Prior to that, he worked as a lawyer acting for NSW workers compensation insurers and self-insureds, defending them against workers compensation and work injury damages claims, and prosecuting 151Z recovery actions on their behalf.
Life outside of Sparkes
Sebastian relaxes by spending time with his beloved puppy Rufus, his partner and friends and family. A supporter of the Sydney Swans, he watches them play live whenever he can.
